About MedKeep

MedKeep is a family health records app built on one idea: the person holding a family’s health together deserves one calm, private place to keep it, and nobody else should be able to read it.

Why MedKeep exists

Most families keep health records the same way: a drawer of paper, a camera roll full of prescription photos, a patient portal for each clinic, and a mental list of who takes what. It works until it matters — a new specialist asks for a medication history, a school needs a vaccination date, or a paramedic asks about allergies and nobody is sure.

MedKeep gives every person in your household their own profile, with medications, vitals, doctor visits, lab results, vaccinations and documents in one structured record you can export as a PDF for any appointment. You can read how it works in our guide to keeping track of family medical records.

What we believe

  • Health data is not a product. We don’t sell, rent or share your records, and we don’t run ads.
  • Privacy should be architecture, not a setting. Records are encrypted on your device before they are stored or synced.
  • Offline is a feature. Clinics have bad signal. MedKeep works fully without a connection.
  • Built for the whole family. Parents, kids and grandparents each get their own profile, so one person can keep everyone’s record straight.

How your data is protected

MedKeep encrypts your health records on your device with AES-256 — the NIST-standardized cipher — before anything is stored or synced. We can’t read the content of your records. The full details are in our privacy policy and our explainer on how encryption protects health data.

Many health apps aren’t covered by HIPAA, which is why the FTC advises comparing how apps handle sensitive information before you trust one with it. We built MedKeep so that question has a short answer.

Editorial policy

Our guides and blog are written by the MedKeep team to help families organize health information — not to diagnose or treat anything. Every article follows the same rules:

  • Public, authoritative sources. Health facts — blood pressure categories, vaccination schedules, medication safety — come from bodies such as the CDC, NIH (MedlinePlus, National Institute on Aging), FDA, the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Each article lists its sources at the end.
  • Dated and kept current. Articles show when they were published or last updated. When guidance changes — for example the American Heart Association’s 2025 blood pressure categories — we update the article and its date.
  • Honest about MedKeep. We make MedKeep, so comparison articles say so. We describe competitors from their public listings and policies, and correct anything that’s out of date when told.
  • No paid placements. No one pays to be mentioned or ranked in our content.

Not medical advice

MedKeep is a personal organization tool, not a medical device. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always talk to a qualified healthcare professional about medical decisions, and call your local emergency number in an emergency.
